Unless you were fortunate enough to be working for Nat at the Peach Pit, there were no tolerable food service uniforms in the 1970s, 80s or 90s. For generations of high schoolers, bad uniforms in the fast food industry were a serious motivator to get good grades and stay in school. Assuming you didn’t do something crazy like pick a philosophy major, college was your best chance to avoid wearing one of these.

On Valentine’s Day, we might expect candles, flowers and stellar service at fine dining establishments. But at White Castle? Oh yes. Sliders can be sexy, too.

The fast-food chain famous for its late-night drive-through shares a reputation as romantic rendezvous. This year a Nashville location of White Castle is accepting reservations for Valentine’s Day for the first time, but to other locations, including one in Murfreesboro where White Castle splits a building with a gas station, a candlelit Valentine’s dinner is not only old-hat, it’s wildly popular.

A 20-year-old woman died early yesterday morning after she and a teenage girl were struck by a car after an argument in the drive-through lane of a McDonald’s in Nanakuli.
